Maestra de Individuos y Sociadades (Estuidos Sociales)
séptimo y octavo
I look forward to working with you this school year! I have been teaching since 2003 and have taught in Minneapolis Public Schools since 2009. I graduated in 2003 from Florida International University in Miami with a degree in Social Studies education, and in 2009 with a Masters of Education in Second Languages and Cultures from the University of Minnesota. I am thrilled to work in a position that ties together both of my degrees and allows me to teach social studies in Spanish.
I started teaching in the Spanish Dual Immersion program at Anwatin in 2010. My husband Daniel is the Parent Liaison, and we often have our two sons in the building after-hours. Anwatin is like a second home to us and we love it! Our children are immersion students in the pathway program as well. I am a strong believer in immersion education and feel lucky to be a part of the immersion team at Anwatin!
In addition to teaching I help coordinate our annual History Day event each February. I have served as staff advisor to the school’s GSA (gay-straight alliance)since 2010, and I teach in the after-school program.
I am always looking for ways to involve our families. If you would like to volunteer in my classroom or for History Day, please let me know!
