The Uncommercial- "The Way We See It"
ad.jpg
You have been working in a group to create a PSA using a digital video camera and imovie.  Your task has been to create a visual message, a message that clearly shows what it means to be:

  • Inquirers
  • Knowledgeable
  • Thinkers
  • Communicators
  • Principled
  • Open-minded
  • Caring
  • Risk-takers
  • Balanced
  • Reflective

Today your  group will be looking at examples of uncommercials and discussing them with the following question in mind:

Which ones were the most effective to you?
What techniques do you think made them effective?
Which ones were the least effective?  Why?
The following websites contain samples of  "Uncommercials" which are both professionally and student produced.   You may want to find some additional sites to add to our list.

One can easily tell if the producer of a video is experience or inexperience.  If they are inexperience they will place their subject in the center of the viewfinder.  If they are experience they will use the guideline called "Rule of Thirds".  View the following video to understand "Rule of Thirds".

Scroll down the page to the section called "Rule of Thirds"

View the student created videos on the PBS Kids website.  Did you see evidence of "Rule of Thirds'?
