E-Learning Plan
Friday, February 7, 2020 5:10 PM

In the event that school is closed due to weather, students will have an E-Learning Day and will select from the activities in the attached guide.  Assignments will be reviewed by the corresponding MYP teacher.  Although the vast majority of activities were designed with accessibility in mind, in cases where technology or other required materials are unavailable, the student should communicate with the teacher and make an alternative plan - that may include an adjustment to the due date or the type of activity.

Comprehensive District Design Update
Friday, December 13, 2019 10:00 AM

Families seeking more information related to the Comprehensive District Design planning, implications for Anwatin, and schools across the district, are invited to learn more here.  Models and studies explore possible changes to programming and pathways, affecting Anwatin and sites across the district.  The latest details, updates, and timelines can be found on the district's website and presentations to the community.  The Anwatin team would like to highlight two essential points:

1) Anwatin staff and community are commited to delivering an excellent educational experience for all of our students each and every day - we are investing our time and energy into our current programming and commitments to the 2019-2020 school year, and our short- and long-term planning as we know it today.

2) Equally important, we invite our community members to consult district resources, attend community engagement events, and explore ways to engage around improving the way MPS educates its students.

Thank you for your partnership and support in delivering #AnwatinExcellence.

Wednesday, December 4, 2019 10:00 AM
The Anwatin community gathered Tuesday morning to launch this year's student-created, school-wide agreements, defined by student representatives from each advisory during a constitutional convention convened by our principal, Ellen Shulman.  As it relates to how we are and learn together at Anwatin, students declared that at Anwatin we continuously strive to:
  • Respect others
  • Be responsible -- do smart things
  • Be our best -- stay positive
  • Be open-minded and include others
  • Take care of our school
  • Be engaged in school
Building Community Through Shared-Interests
Friday, November 22, 2019 3:20 PM

This November, the Anwatin community launched an exciting school-wide inititative to invite students into leadership choice advisories where students can build community and explore a shared-interest in social and academic morning groups called Leadership Choice Advisories.  Teachers, staff, and community members have collaborated and are offering a range of experiences  - such as cooking, embroidery, reptiles, juggling, competetive games, event planners, and Spanish debate - just to name a few.  Read more here - and learn how you can support this work!

We are excited to welcome all families to the new school year. We are ready to provide a safe and nurturing environment to our students. Our main priority, as educators and schools staff, is the safety and social well-being of our students.
During the first week of school and throughout the year, teachers and school staff will be developing trusting relationship with their students and families. We will be alert and vigilant about our students’ attendance and overall engagement. MPS staff will practice cultural humility and focus on learning from students and families about their interests and immediate needs.
Please be assured that MPS and our school does not collect or keep citizenship and immigration status information or enforce immigration laws, so we cannot and will not provide information to any government agencies. The U.S. Supreme Court has established that public schools must be accessible to all children regardless of immigration status. We want and welcome all our students. Please contact the school principal, Ellen Shulman, if you have any questions.
